Las Campanas Remote Observatory (LCRO)

Dave, Howard, John, Marj, Roland and I and the others involved in this project have much to be grateful for. Blessed with what is possibly the best astronomical observing site in the world, we are fortunate indeed. That being said, this project would probably not have happened, and certainly could not have succeeded as well as it did without the tremendous generosity of Roland and Marj and the team at Astro Physics. We are the benefactors not only of their time and effort but also of a superb telescope and mount. The striking images that you see are the collective result of all the instruments and the individuals who participate in collecting and reducing the data. But at its core it is the superb performance of the custom built Makutsov Cassegrain optics and the precision mechanics of the 1600 GTO mount that are the foundation of the breathtaking images featured in our gallery. Whatever we accomplish, and there is much we hope for, the major credit must go to Roland and Marj. I know I speak for the team as a whole when I say Thanks to the Both of You!
