Object: NGC 6820

This faint emisison nebula is located in the constellation Vulpecula about 6000 light years from Earth. The heart of open cluster NGC 6823, a youngster at only about 2 million years old, lies at a 1 o’clock position from the prominent dark column cutting across the nebula. This image is a collaborative effort between Howard Hedlund of Astro-Physics, Inc. and Dave Jurasevich, with a total exposure time of 7 hours.
