Object: NGC 247

NGC 247 lies about 11 million light years from Earth and span nearly 70,000 light years across. It belongs to the Sculptor Group of galaxies, which includes the beautiful oblique spiral NGC 253.

Total exposure time was 13 hours 30 minutes. This image is the result of a collaborative effort between Howard Hedlund of Astro-Physics, Inc. and Dave Jurasevich.
